Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
Word War: Duel ("the app") is a word puzzle game developed by capVentures. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
When you sign in with Apple, we receive and store:
- Apple user identifier — a stable, opaque ID provided by Apple that lets us recognize you across sessions. We do not receive your Apple ID email address or password.
- Email address — only if you choose to share it during Apple Sign-In. You may hide your real email and Apple will provide a private relay address instead.
- Name — only if you choose to share it during Apple Sign-In, and only on first sign-in. You can edit or clear this later in your profile.
- Username — optional, chosen by you for leaderboards and multiplayer.
We also store data tied to your account:
- Game statistics — games played, games won, current streak, best streak.
- Daily guesses and outcomes — used to prevent replay of the daily puzzle and to track win/loss records.
- War, battle, and team history — if you participate in multiplayer wars or teams, we store the results and participants of each battle.
- Profile images — if you upload an image for your profile, war, or team, we store that image on our behalf with a cloud storage provider.
- First-party usage events — basic in-app events (such as screens opened and features used) recorded on our own servers to help us understand how the game is used and improve it. These are not used for advertising and are not sold or shared for anyone else's purposes.
- Notification token — if you allow notifications, we store the push token your device issues so we can send you game notifications. Notifications are delivered through Expo's push service and Apple; see Service Providers.
- Device identifier — when you redeem a referral invite code, the app sends an identifier that your device provides to apps (on iPhone, Apple's "identifier for vendor"). We store only an irreversible hashed form of it, never the identifier itself, and we use it for one purpose only: detecting the same device redeeming invite codes repeatedly. We do not use it for advertising, we do not share it with anyone, and it is not used to track you across other apps or websites. This is separate from the device identifiers Google's advertising software uses when advertising is enabled — those are described under Advertising and are never combined with the identifier above.
- Subscription and purchase records — if you subscribe to Word War Premium, Apple processes the payment and provides us a signed receipt. We store the subscription's transaction identifier, the product purchased, its status, and its renewal or expiry date, so the app knows your subscription is active. We never receive or store your payment card details or your Apple Account password.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Word War: Duel does not collect or access:
- Your contacts
- Audio or video — the app does not use your camera or your microphone
- Your photo library, beyond an image you explicitly choose to upload for your profile, a war, or a team
- Health, fitness, or biometric data
- Browsing history outside the app
- Precise location — the app never requests or uses your device's precise location
We do not track you. Word War: Duel does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not use your device's advertising identifier for advertising, and shows no “Allow tracking” prompt, because there is nothing to allow. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with data brokers.
The app includes Google's AdMob advertising software so that we can show ads in a future update. Advertising is currently switched off: no ad is requested and the advertising software is not started. If and when we enable it, the ads you see will be non-personalized — chosen without any profile of you built across other apps or websites — and Premium subscribers will see no ads at all. See Advertising below.
Advertising
Word War: Duel includes Google AdMob so that we can show ads in the app. Advertising is currently switched off — the app requests no ads and does not start the advertising software. This section describes what happens when we turn it on.
- Ads are non-personalized. We do not permit personalized or interest-based advertising in this app. Google is not given permission to use your device's advertising identifier to build a profile of you, and the app shows no App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not ask for tracking permission.
- What Google receives. To return an ad and to bill for it, Google's software collects information about the ad and the device it is shown on: which ads were requested, shown, or tapped; a device identifier — not your device's advertising identifier, which this app does not use — that Google uses to limit how often you see the same ad and to detect click fraud; approximate (city-level) location derived from your network connection; and diagnostic information such as crashes and performance. This is set by Google, not by us, and is described in Google's advertising privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- Premium subscribers see no ads. If your Word War Premium subscription is active, no ad is requested at all.
- Children. Ad content is limited to Google's “PG” content rating, and the app is not directed at children under 13.
How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in
- Show your stats and progress across sessions
- Match you against other players in wars
- Display leaderboards and rankings
- Prevent abuse (e.g., multi-account cheating on the daily puzzle, or one device redeeming repeated referral invites)
- Send you the game notifications you have turned on
- Recognize an active Premium subscription and unlock the features it includes
- Review reports of offensive content and enforce our Terms of Use
- Diagnose problems and improve the game
- Show non-personalized ads, if and when we enable advertising, and not show them to Premium subscribers
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers operated on our behalf. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication sessions are signed and stored in the device's secure keychain (iOS Keychain).
Service Providers
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do rely on a small number of service providers to operate the app. Each one receives only what it needs to provide its service to us, and — with the exception of Google's advertising service described under Advertising — each is required to use that information only to provide that service and not for its own purposes.
- Apple — provides Sign in with Apple, processes subscription payments and gives us the receipt we verify, and delivers push notifications to your device.
- Expo — if you enable notifications, your device's push token and the title, body, and accompanying data of each notification pass through Expo's push notification service on their way to Apple. Notification text can include another player's display name (for example, that a teammate has played today).
- Google — provides the AdMob advertising service. When advertising is enabled, your device requests ads directly from Google and Google receives the information described under Advertising. Advertising is currently switched off, so no such request is made.
- Cloudflare — profile, war, and team images you upload are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage and served from a public image URL.
- Resend — when you report a player, we email the report to our support address through Resend. That email contains the report's identifier and reason, the account identifiers of the reporter and the reported player, and any note you added.
- Railway — hosts our application servers and our database.
Aggregated, non-identifying gameplay statistics may be used to improve the game. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect the safety of our players.
Note that information you choose to make visible to other players — your username, profile image, and your scores within a war or team you join — is visible to the other participants in that war or team.
Your Choices
- Delete your account — in the app, open Profile → Delete Account and confirm. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: we permanently remove your profile, username, photo, email, subscription link, and referral credits. Game results you shared with other players are kept in anonymized form (shown as “Deleted Player”) so their match history stays intact. If you cannot access the app, email support@wordwarduel.com for help.
- Report or block a player — in a war or on your team, tap the … next to a player and choose Report Player or Block Player. Blocking hides that player's name and photo from you everywhere in the app. We review reports and act on them, typically within 24 hours.
- Turn notifications off — turn off notifications for the app in Settings → Notifications on your iOS device. Your device then stops accepting them, and we delete the stored token for that device once it is reported to us as no longer valid.
- Stop using Apple Sign-In — you can revoke the app's access from Settings → Apple ID → Password & Security → Apps Using Apple ID on your iOS device.
- Clear local data — deleting the app removes all locally stored stats and tokens from the device.
Children's Privacy
Word War: Duel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@wordwarduel.com and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, when appropriate, notify users inside the app.
